The Talk of the Town

I found The Talk of the Town to be well done; nevertheless with kinks. Some parts of this essay were very awkward and I had to read them twice to understand what the authors were trying to say. One aspect I did enjoy was the example of what other countries did for gun control after they themselves had horrific incidents. The authors also had a solution to the problem (lack of gun control), which is always nice to have when dishing out criticism.

I agree with Gopnik when he states, "Reducing the number of guns available to crazy people will neither relieve them of their insanity nor stop them from killing," but I do believe that if it is harder for people to get guns, the number of killings with slowly reduce. The facts the Gopnik uses are perfect examples of why the United States should have stricter gun laws - Nations with tight gun laws have less gun violence.

Sontag makes a great point, in my opinion, of saying that "our leaders are bent on convincing us that everything is O.K.". I believe that the past president assured us that everything was fine and we had nothing to worry about, while a war was and still is raging. The past president didn't even show the public that he was doing anything to help the situations that had come up, which I think was a part of his negative reputation
